Vintage 2020

In Bordeaux, the heat led to early flowering. Additionally, this led to an early harvest after a very hot summer. As a starting point, there is great maturity in the grapes, and we can expect a more opulent vintage than in recent years.

This year's summer was the hottest since 1959, but the rain fell at just the right time during the growing season. The harvest took place two weeks before the norm and will produce grapes with high alcohol potential and the lowest acidity since the 2003 vintage. As they say in Bordeaux: “It was a good and extreme growing season which , hopefully, also produces great wines.”

Written Notes

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Noble nose with distinct fruit reminiscent of blackberries, elderberries and blackcurrants complemented by aromatic herbs, hints of cedarwood, dark chocolate and fresh ground coffee beans. On the palate juicy with opulent fruit and polished tannins, almost velvety character with excellent length.

2020  Château Clos St. Martin St. Émilion Grand Cru Opulent, silky and rich, this is pure bottled hedonism. Flamboyant, showy plums, cherries, smoke, licorice, spice, oak and earthy nuances seek your attention. Rich, lush and opulent on the palate, the wine finishes with layers of perfectly ripe, sensuous fruits. Give it 7 years or so for the oak to fully integrate and enjoy over it the following 2 decades. 96-98  Pts
