The 2009 vintage in Burgundy produced wines of exceptional ripeness, depth and early charm. In Ruchottes-Chambertin, it yielded more breadth and texture to its wines without loosing the signature finesse of the appellation.
The Michel Bonnefond parcel is 0,54 hectares owned by the business man Michel Bonnefond, but farmed and vinified by Christophe Roumier under a traditional métayage agreement, using the same methods and cellar work as Roumier’s own wines. The vineyard sits high on the slope above Gevrey-Chambertin on thin, chalky soils that produce wines known more for elegance, minerality and tension than sheer power.
The wine shows lovely pure wild strawberry and floral rose petal aromas with dried cherries and some orange peel notes framed by fine touch of spices, smoke and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is silky yet structured with delicate tannins and pure red fruit flavours. Very linear lingering taste with precision and mineral finish. Enjoyable already but will reveal more layers after 4-5 years further ageing. – JL 92p (May 2026)
