The foundation of this wine is a special block at Kenefick Ranch adjacent to a very famous vineyard on Pickett Road in Calistoga. The soils here are deep, rocky and very well-drained, allowing the vines respite from the occasional heat, and accommodating hang-time to achieve perfect ripeness in the grapes.
