The 2021 vintage in Napa Valley was defined by small yields, drought conditions, and exceptional concentration. A dry winter and warm, consistently sunny growing season led to tiny, thick-skinned berries, producing wines of remarkable intensity, purity, and structural precision. Harvest was early and compact, favoring growers who managed canopy and irrigation impeccably. For hillside sites like Melanson on Pritchard Hill, 2021 delivered powerful, mineral-driven Cabernets with lifted aromatics, brilliant acidity, and long aging potential.


The TOR Melanson 2021 is a stunning expression of Pritchard Hill—dark, intense, and sculpted with a sense of mountain-born purity. The nose is immediately captivating, opening with blackberry, blueberry compote, and crème de cassis, layered with notes of crushed violets, graphite, and warm volcanic stone. As it evolves, subtler accents of black licorice, cocoa nib, sweet tobacco, and fresh sage emerge, adding aromatic depth without heaviness.

On the palate, the wine is bold and concentrated, yet marked by a precision and finesse that elevate it above sheer power. The tannins are firm, fine-grained, and immaculately integrated, giving the wine a vertical, architectural feel.
