History
Château de la Rivière has Fronsac's most imposing Château as well as being one of its best producers. In the 19th century Château de la Rivière is considered the finest producer in this highly rated commune according to Ferret's famous work of 1867. Its fortunes dipped during the next 100 years or so and it wasn't until Jacques Borie purchased it that it regained its position as one of Fronsac's finest producers. Recently the property changed hands, but its reputation stands unchallenged.
It was restored in the 19th century under the eye of a group of renowned architects including Viollet Le Duc. Its 3 hectares of underground cellars are an ideal setting for maturing the wines it produces
