Wine Information
Current Tasting Notes
This pale pink sparkling wine from Cloudy Bay has a fine bubble with initial aromas of flint and wet stones moving into clove and cinnamon. Then arrives an abundance of strawberry and cranberry aromas, rose petal/pot pourri and ginger rounding out this delicate yet complex nose. On the palate is an abundance of red fruit including cherry with a touch of smokiness before ending with a faint sweet spice on a rich finish.
Vineyard Notes
The Pinot Noir component that went into this wine was from 3 caned vertically shoot positioned vines grown in the Central Wairau Valley. The rest of the components came from our various selected subregions in the Wairau valley.
Winemaker Notes
Using the méthode traditionelle, the core of this wine was Pinot Noir that was destemmed and soaked for just the right amount of time to extract the delicate pink colour. After pressing, it was fermented to stainless tank and then blended with other Pinot Noir batches to give the savoury and complexity that this variety can offer. Following a spontaneous malolactic fermentation the wine was left to age 2 years on yeast lees before disgorgement.
