The Story

2005 base vintage; a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, fermented and aged in small barrels from the Argonne Forest Deep yellow; aromas of tropical fruit, Anjou pear, smoked mozzarella and a light nuttiness. Excellent depth of fruit, with a delicate feel on the palate. The wood notes are intriguing, but not too powerful. Good acidity, excellent persistence and complexity, with a rich, compelling finish. Outstanding! Enjoy over the nex...

Written Notes

Sourced exclusively from the historic Grand Cru vineyards of Aÿ, this release showcases Henri Giraud’s signature philosophy: iconic 100% Argonne oak-barrel vinification and extended lees aging (secured with the house’s classic stapled agrafe cork), producing one of the most vinous and texturally arresting Champagnes in the region.

The nose is lavish, powerful, and deeply complex, uncoiling with baked yellow apple, candied citrus peel, and dried apricot, seamlessly wrapped in rich oak-derived layers of toasted brioche, brown butter, honeycomb, roasted hazelnut, and subtle baking spice. On the palate, the wine enters with massive presence and broad, vinous shoulders. A dense, velvety mousse carries an extraordinary depth of stone fruit, roasted nuts, and savory umami across the mid-palate, yet it remains remarkably poised thanks to the sharp, chiseled beam of natural acidity that drives through the richness. It concludes on a monumental, bone-dry finish that echoes for minutes with notes of orange marmalade, toasted rye, and a mouthwatering saline-chalk grip.

‘Ett lysande komplext soleravin som ligger i kontakt med jästen i 6 år. Fräschare och mer komplext än årgångsvinerna, men mindre koncentrerat. Doften påminner om Krug Grande Cuvée med ett uns av exotism och dvärgbanan som tyngre attribut. Även smaken har lijkheter, men är sötare och mer exotisk.
