The Story

Romirasco is a plot within the Bussia vineyard. Vines in “Romirasco” are about 50-55 years old and are replanted from time to time. It's fabulous South South-West location enhances the nobility of the clayey-calcareous soil, rich with calcium carbonate and iron, typical of Barolo hills. The wine of this cru gives itself firm determination by playing on the most classical elements of the Nebbiolo vine and its spicy notes give a crystal idea of the uniqueness of this soil.

Thick with high tannin levels, very dark color as well as remarkable aromatic complexity. This massive, powerful but elegant wine is characterized by notes of creamy vanilla, tobacco and smoke.

Aldo Conterno founded his winery in the sixties, after the division of the legacy of his father James, one of the central figures of Italian post-war. Today the company, a sort of monumental fortress in the center of Bussia Monteforte, is undoubtedly one of the biggest names not only of the Langhe, but around the world of Italian wine. Here are some of the greatest Barolo born of history, beginning with numerous memorable versions of Granbussia, a reserve produced only in great vintages. The current style is affected to a greater extent than before, the contribution of the oak, however, preserving adequate structural strength and a careful extraction of tannin.
