Written Notes

Medium intense yellow colour. The nose is open and seductive with ripe tropical fruit aromas of mango, peach and passion fruit spiced up with some smoke and peppermint. Peculiar aroma profile that refers more towards Semillon or Chenin Blanc than Sauvignon Blanc. On palate the wine is dry and oily. The ripe tropical fruitiness is supporting the nutty flavours. The alcohol boosts the fatty mouthfeel and although the palate is not particularly vivid, it is tranquil and harmoniously tasty. Moderately long finish. This wine is stylewise far from a typical NZ Sav. No classic benchmark aromas of Sav – grass, nettles, or blackcurrant leaves. The style refers to late picking followed by  reductive winemaking. Lovely wine for those who are not great fans of herbaceous and blackcurrant bush flavour Savs. Drink now at 11-13°C and serve with smoked fish salad, Smoked Salmon with grilled asparagus.
