Double Vision 2008

Double Vision combines two of our favorite red grapes- Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Together these "visions" in winemaking create a wine of immense complexity. Our first ever Cabernet-Syrah blend has an intriguing nose of chocolate, herbs, cedar, blackberries and smoke that seamlessly flows into a smooth and silky palate. It finishes with fine-grained tannin and incredible density. The structure from the Cabernet Sauvignon combines with the boldness of Syrah to give this blend great texture, structure and restraint. Varietals: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Syrah Harvest Date: October 2008 Barrel Aging: 22 months, then bottled unfined and unfiltered in July 2010 Barrel Type: 75% New Seguin Moreau French Oak (Cabernet Selection) for the Cabernet, 100% New Saury French Oak (Medium Plus) and Demptos (2nd used) for the Syrah Age of Barrels: 75% New French Oak, 25% Second Vintage French Oak Alcohol: 15.0% Appellation: Syrah: Meek Vineyard, Yakima Valley. Cabernet: Stillwater Creek Vineyard, Columbia Valley Vineyard Yeild: 2 tons per acre, average Vineyard(s): Stillwater Creek (50%), Meek (50%) Vinification: Fermented in 1.5 ton open fermenters, punched in cap 2 times per day. Mostly completed primarily on skins and malolactic fermentation in French oak. Minimal racking and SO2. Production: 100 cases Release Date: May 2011 Cellaring: 10-15 Years Food Pairing: Serve with grilled lamb or steak.
