III a.C 2015 – Bodegas Beronia
If you want a wine that gives you a spectacular image of the Rioja 'terroir', this is your wine. A wine made with 94% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 1% Mazuelo, from vines over 70 years old and some pre-phylloxera, which makes it the first one to give it most of its characteristics. But this selection of grapes gives the wine its own character and a differentiation that in tasting is shown with a perfect structure in the mouth and an intensity and balance in the nose out of the ordinary. And all this in a wine that is aged, as it is aged in French oak barrels for about 14 months, it is not a reserva or gran reserva. But its body, structure and tasting sensations make it a perfect reflection of Rioja.
A wine that leaves us a very dark ruby red colour, which already lets us glimpse that it is a wine with character. Very clean in standing glass and with a high layer. When the glass is moved, it gives a glimpse of reddish edges indicating that it is a crianza wine that is already evolving. A really powerful nose that falls in love, very clear, in which the presence of the fruit and the contributions of the ageing appear with an enormous balance. Black fruit, with a touch of ripe fruit, combined with spicy aromas, touches of wood, vanilla, mineral contributions from the Rioja terroir and even a touch of chocolate in the background. The palate is extremely silky and elegant with a great presence of fruit, which gives it a great freshness in the mouth. The ageing is present combined excellently. The result is a perfectly structured wine, very round and full of sensations. Long finish and excellent persistence.
