Cab Franc is hardly the first variety which springs to mind when one thinks Margaret River, but there seems little reason why it should not also be successful, given the glories from its sibling, Cab Sauv. The fruit comes from Estate vines, two blocks, which have gained some maturity. Maturation, for a year and a half, was largely in French oak, 43% new, with a contribution from clay amphorae. The blend includes 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot. 

A crimson maroon hue, the nose is attractively perfumed with raspberries, herbal notes, violets, cherries and warm earth. There is an intriguing dustiness to the wine, which also exhibits bright acidity. It is of medium length with good balance and sleek tannins. It should drink very well for at least the next five to six years. 92.
