Full bottle 1,369 g. 3–5 days on the skins in open concrete fermenters at 28 °C – cap punched down manually every 2 hours and then the juice was drawn off the skins after 3 days. Matured for 12 months in 2nd- and 3rd-fill French oak barrels.
Deepest crimson with black core. Rich dark fruit, just a little bit smoky. The oak in the background. Tannins and acidity set each other off so both seem quite prominent, and the alcohol shows more than on the Cape Blend 2018. But I think it will settle down with another year in bottle, and definitely needs food at the moment. (JH)
