History

The Chevaliers de Védrines owned this estate for centuries and gave their name to it. Included in the 1855 classification, it was acquired by the family of the present owners in the mid-19th century.

Vineyards

Around 30ha of vineyard are planted with 85% Semillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation is in stainless-steel before and 18 month aging period in oak, of which 70% is new. Doisy-Védrines is a richer rounder style than Doisy-Daëne. Interestingly, although entitled to the Barsac appellation, the wines are always labelled as Sauternes.

Winemaking

Château Doisy-Védrines remained in the hands of the Boireau family for a long time. It was only at the age of 94 that Madame Teyssonneau left the management to her grandson Pierre Castéja.
