From a vineyard planted in the northern reaches of Coonawarra in 1988, maturation was for eighteen months in an even split of new oak and second fill hogsheads. This is a bit special.
A deep red/maroon hue, this is finely crafted and well structured with aromas of cherries, chocolate, blackcurrants, aniseed and tobacco leaves. The oak is well integrated. A wine with balance, juicy acidity and silky tannins, there is serious length here. Enjoy for the next decade plus. 95.
