JAMES SUCKLING 99 points / Ripe-peach, chalk, smoked-almond, matchstick and phenolic aromas. Floral notes, too. It’s full-bodied, creamy and oily. So balanced and restrained, yet dense and impressive. Minerally. Give this time. Try after 2022, but already fantastic

The Story

Located in Napa Valley and Sonoma in California, Aubert makes highly rated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, including Aubert Chardonnay CIX Estate Vineyard and Aubert Pinot Noir UV Vineyard. Aubert is considered a true master of the Chardonnay varietal, as evidenced by its multiple 100-point Chardonnay vintages, such as 2017 Lauren Estate Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and 2015 CIX Chardonnay. Aubert Pinot Noir also consistently receives high rankings. Aubert wines are crafted using minimal outside intervention, allowing the wines to fully express the richness of the terroir. Production is also limited to just 4,000 cases per year, making these wines exceptionally rare. Because of their rarity and exceptional quality, fine Aubert wines make an excellent choice for the investor or collector

Written Notes

The Aubert Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard 2018 is an exceptional expression of California Chardonnay. In the glass, it displays a radiant, pale gold color, foreshadowing the wine's elegance. The nose is a captivating blend of orchard and citrus fruits. Aromas of ripe pear, green apple, and Meyer lemon intertwine with subtle hints of vanilla and toasted hazelnuts. On the palate, this wine is a harmonious fusion of flavors. Ripe pineapple and tropical fruits are complemented by a touch of butterscotch. The creamy texture is balanced by a refreshing acidity. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a delightful impression of citrus zest and a gentle kiss of oak.

Suggested Food Pairing:
Pair this Chardonnay with dishes like grilled lobster with garlic butter, roasted chicken with truffle risotto, or a selection of artisanal cheeses, especially those with creamy textures.
