Here at Sukula we focus on the King and Queen of Italian grapes: nebbiolo and barbera. We craft stellar bottles of Barolo and Barbera d’Alba from our small estate, and our small size ensures a focus on quality and consistency.
Nebbiolo, named for the eponymous fog that lies thick over the hills of the Barolo zone, is one of the most exquisite grape varieties in the world. Nebbiolo is late ripening and thin-skinned, often resulting in a re...

Written Notes
Deep, intense, purple colour with high viscosity. Perfumed and intense nose shows extensive crème de cassis notes with spicy and toasty oak. Still little closed although hints of meaty roast aromas are indicating the complexity of the wine. Extremely concentrated on the palate. Full-bodied wine with good acidity and refined big, velvety tannins that are giving magnificent backbone to the rich and ripe dark fruitiness and spicy oakiness. The texture is rich and peculiarly edgy making this wine unique in style. The long aftertaste charms with chocolate, tobacco and crème de cassis flavours. It is tempting to enjoy the wine now because of its edginess that challenges the taster’s palate but it will certainly hold and evolve for a decade or even two, offering more aromatic nuances and most obviously tamed character for wine lovers preferring smoothness. 95 points. Well done!
Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is ruby red, and looking bright and light. On the nose it is youthful, open, refined, fresh, charming and pure. The taste is fresh, focused, vivid, refined, with drying tannins, and high in acidity, medium-bodied and with balanced structure. On the palate it is layered and has spice and cranberry flavours. The finish is long, lingering, pure and vibrant. This wine is sophisticated and impressive. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 2h before tasting.
