Today I bring you this rose wine Livius Rosado Fermented in Barrel 2015, is making at Bodegas Alvia in DOCa Rioja. The first than anything I would like to say I am not use any kind of filter in the picture. What you see is what you have, fantastic! And look that I have to recognize that the roses are not my right eye, and less the “light” of Provencal style, but I loved this wine.

I always believe that the roses have the freshness of a white and want to reach the personality of a red wine and, in the rosés of the year I usually try, none has come to dazzle, Livius Rosado Fermented in Barrel 2015, certainly falls into the category of “great wines” or quality wines.

This winery, which we already tasted before the wines, in my motion has a spectacular hand for long aging wines (such as its Anthos Tempranillo or Livius Garnacha) and in this rosé wine I had high hopes since it is about a Garnacha monovarietal that is given 4 months of aging in French oak barrels and they leave it in the bottle, refining for a couple of years, which makes the color it presents not only a product of this variety, the Garnacha, but a perfect conjunction of fruit and barrel.

In the glass, we can see that it is not a normal rosé wine, of the year, of the Provencal-style onion skin that is in fashion. No. A brilliance in the glass and a really spectacular cleanliness. A really spectacular raspberry color with a chromatic intensity that leaves us with a wine that, without a doubt, is not one of those to drink and that’s it, but it brings more things in its tasting.

In the nose, the fruity aromas, very fresh, but with a great complexity, where subtle and elegant appearance of the upbringing appear. Touches of lovely jelly beans, a light toffee aroma of the barrel, an important minerality in the background, leave a perfectly balanced wine in the nose that when we repeatedly approach it to the nose, we discover something new and exiting.

The mouth of this Livius Rosado Fermented in Barrel 2015 is really spectacular in my opinion, offer us freshness of entry but with a great body all the time, from entering until it crosses the entire palate. A brilliantly worked acidity, which has made, being from 2015, perfectly suited to taste it right now, moreover, there are still years of life left, and I am talking about a rosé! A step with a large volume on the palate, with an interesting unctuous touch, a fruity load and ideal acidity with a hint of strawberries.

Works perfectly and transmits the essence of the varietal in a spectacular way. I am not much of rosé wines, and I do not usually rate them in a very high way, but this wine may be the rosé that I liked , which, in my opinion, deserves a score of 94+ points.
