Perhaps Italy’s most famous red wine region, which seems to be enjoying a resurgence in popularity, Chianti is doing some wonderful things these days. Bottled under Diam, this is a fine example of what Sangiovese can offer from its homeland. The colour is a fire truck red. On the nose we have spices and herbals, aniseed, a touch of tomato bush and dried herbs, but mostly red fruits. A supple texture, the wine has medium length, sleek tannins and a fine line of acidity. This should all build over time and it will improve further. Well crafted, this is for enjoying over the next five to eight years.
