Vintage 2018

CHAMPAGNE: With record rainfall in winter, many hours of sunshine in spring and summer and the earliest harvest on record, the 2018 harvest in Champagne was truly unique. Written Notes

A singular, breathtaking expression of 100% Pinot Noir from the iconic 0.9-hectare single parcel in Landreville (Côte des Bar). Cultivated with low yields, single-vintage purity, single-barrel vinification, and bottled with zero dosage and a signature soft pressure (around 4.5 atmospheres), the 2018 'Les Ursules' captures Cédric Bouchard's masterclass in vinous elegance and Burgundian depth.

The bouquet opens with remarkable purity and detail, revealing red currant, wild strawberry, crushed cherry, and blood orange zest, underpinned by subtle notes of dried white flowers, fresh ginger, chalk dust, and a gentle earthy nuance. On the palate, the wine feels remarkably vinous, weightless, and silky, carried by an extraordinarily fine, delicate mousse. The 2018 warmth provides a ripe, supple fruit core, yet the palate remains remarkably taut, energetic, and linear, anchored by a vibrant, crystalline acid spine and a deep chalky minerality. The finish is mesmerizingly long, saline, and dry, tapering off with lingering red berry skin and a mouthwatering, mineral intensity. A sublime, intellectual Blanc de Noirs built for gastronomy and cellaring.
