Château La Serre has an exceptional position in the very heart of Saint-Emilion, two hundred meters from the town ramparts. The residence was constructed at the end of the XVIIth century by Romain de Labayme, who was from an ancient family of jurists, barristers at the parliament of Bordeaux and five mayors from 1541 to 1728; he was given the title “Sir de Laserre”. Planted on the famous chalky clay plateau, it spreads over 18 acres between Villemaurine and Trottevieille. The vineyards consist of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Average vine age is 30 years. The wine is aged 16 months in 100% new oak barrels. On the palate it displays a splendid texture with fine tannins and a fresh finish with hints of toast.
