One Lovely Day Clare Valley Shiraz 2022 ($28) – From the excellent 2022 vintage in the Clare Valley, one which also saw good quantity as well as quality, this is a single vineyard wine, the Shanky Vineyard in the Watervale sub-region.
A maroon centre with red rims, the nose is all about mulberries, chocolate, cassis, aniseed, bay leaves, blackberries and spices, with good oak integration. The chocolate is to the fore on the palate and there are hints of bitter almond on the finish. The wine has a sleek texture, ultra-fine tannins and very good length. Delicious and approachable now, it will be better in two years and then drink well for the following ten to twelve years. Terrific value. 93.
