Vintage 1976

This sunny and hot drought year with record heat levels across Europe led to a very early harvest, which began on September 1st. Large yields (averaging 10,359 kg/ha) of super ripe fruit produced rich and powerful champagnes, although relatively low in acidity (averaging 7.2 g/l). Written Notes

Only tasted on one occasion under perfect circumstances: in Champagne, from a magnum, normally disgorged with an integrated dosage and bottle maturity. Wonderfully butterscotchy, coffee-drenched nose and an impressively rich, ripe, nutty taste, full of tropical fruit. Brilliantly enjoyable. Undoubtedly much less spectacular in a normally stored bottle.
