Wine Information

The end of 2006/start of 2007 was characterized by a very mild period that lasted from October 2006 to June 2007, with a peak in April, followed by a cool summer with rainy weather from May to August. Temperatures from October to February, with the exception of a few brief wintery spells, were above ten-year averages, making the autumn of 2006 the hottest since records have been kept. Monthly rainfalls were below normal from November to January. These exceptional weather conditions had the effect of accelerating the start of the vines' growth cycle: the first swollen buds were noted on 19 March.
Despite a marked cooling of temperatures in March, the first buds opened on 12 April. April: it was the conditions in this month that had the greatest effect on the 2007 vintage. Temperatures were 5 to 6°C higher than seasonal norms, reaching 30°C. Hot, dry, very sunny weather throughout this month resulted in an explosion of growth.

By the end of April, the vines were three weeks further ahead than in 2006. May, June, July, and August were very similar with quite cool temperatures and lots of a rain. September was cool and dry, accentuated by the north wind, and enabled the grapes to become concentrated, and to continue ripening, while preserving an excellent state of health and ensuring that the harvests took place in the best possible conditions.
