The Story

First planted to vines in the 1880s, Eisele Vineyard sits in the northeast Napa Valley, just east of Calistoga at the base of the Palisades Mountain range. A poised, sculpted, and beautifully transparent Eisele — showing the vineyard’s unmistakable mineral elegance wrapped in refined Napa Valley power.

The 2018 Eisele Cabernet opens with an exquisitely pure, aromatic bouquet: blackcurrant, blackberry, and red plum, lifted by notes of violet, lavender, fresh sage, and bay leaf. Beneath the fruit lies a distinctive Eisele mineral line — crushed graphite, volcanic dust, warm river stones, and cedar spice — giving the wine a sense of precision and cool-toned refinement.

On the palate, the wine is silky, linear, and beautifully proportioned, offering layers of cassis, black cherry, mulberry, and blueberry skin that unfold with clarity and poise. The hallmark 2018 structure is evident in the wine’s fine-grained, polished tannins, which frame the fruit without overwhelming it.

Subtle undertones of black tea, cocoa nib, pencil shavings, and tobacco leaf add complexity, while a vibrant beam of fresh, mouthwatering acidity provides lift and tension. As the wine opens, savory nuances of sagebrush, warm earth, and dark spice deepen the mid-palate and highlight the site’s unique terroir.

The finish is long, refined, and quietly powerful, echoing with dark fruit, floral hints, and persistent mineral energy.

The 2018 Eisele Vineyard Cabernet is one of the finest and most terroir-transparent vintages that our team had the joy to produce. Very subtle and elegant, the wine unveils a nose of intense black currants, blackberries and Burlat cherry with a scent of roses, crushed rocks, tobacco box and cocoa bean. The mouthfeel is ample and silky, exploding with layers of black and red fruits, spicy cinnamon, vanilla and earthy notes. The personality of the Eisele Vineyard terroir is unmistakable in
this vintage: a precisely delineated structure, racy tannins and an incredibly refined texture, combined with great freshness from floral and mineral notes ending in a very long, velvety finish.

Blackberry, dried-blueberry, bitter-chocolate and some volcanic-ash and burnt-orange aromas. Crushed stone and subtle vanilla notes, too. It’s full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins framing a deep core of dark fruit. Dense, muscular and firmly structured. So long. Goes on for minutes. Elegance with power.
