The Story

The grapes are handpicked, lightly crushed, but never destemmed. Fermentation temperatures are controlled at 30-32°C, with regular pumping over, before transfer to 600 litre "demi-muids" and 228 litre "pièces" for the malolactic conversion. Ageing is in Allier oak casks, of which 15 to 20% are renewed each year. The wine is bottled unfiltered after 18 months.

Jamet's Côte Rôtie's are marked by good colour and a wonderful purity of fruit on both the nose and palate. When young, they show intense aromas of black fruit, smoked meat, black and white pepper, developing a gamey richness with age. In the mouth, the wines are full and round, with acidity and ripe tannins supporting but never dominating the fleshy black fruit. Great concentration carries through the harmonious finish, giving seriously long length.
