Written Notes

This particularly rocky block of ungrafted bush vines within the Bohan vineyard is on an intermix of sandstone, shale and quartz at 1,500 feet (460 m) and 3.05 miles (4.9 km) from the ocean. They chose to destem all these grapes 'to bring some delicacy to this incredibly structured block'. Picked in 17 September. Like the rest of the Bohan vineyard, this block is dry farmed. Just four barrels produced.
Deep crimson. Heady nose that's already integrated aromatically. Some bitterness on the edgy, fruity palate impact. A wild, wild wine that should easily find its enthusiasts. Ideally it should be kept for a year or two but I'd guess few curious Kutch enthusiasts will be able to. There is a heck of a lot to chew on here and, as in the other Kutch 2018s, the sweetness has been kept well in check. This is a fascinating and ambitious wine that is not for drinking yet but shares the purity and chiselled expression of its stablemates. Worth ageing awhile.
