Vintage 2008

2008 -The Champagne vintage set to make history!

A first taste of leading winemakers’ 2008 champagnes reveals a miraculous vintage, bubbling with potential, which – whisper it – might just prove the greatest in living memory.

2008 was not, by any standards, a vintage year for the financial world. And for the greater part of it, 2008 was a pretty poor year for Champagne too: spring was freezing, summer gloomy and overcast. But then, aroun...

Written Notes

A beautifully mature and refined Blanc de Blancs with developed complexity and crystalline freshness. Aromas of baked lemon, orchard fruit and brioche are complemented by honeyed nuances, toasted almond and deep chalky minerality; medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and a fine, persistent bead. The palate offers layered citrus and stone fruit framed by saline tension and subtle tertiary notes of honeycomb and dried flowers, leading to a long, dry, elegant finish with lingering minerality and warm brioche complexity.

Good looking normal size bottle and in an perfect condition. Colour is yellow, and looking clear and medium. On the nose it is mature, seductive and complex. The taste is fruity, fresh, perfumed, robust, and dry, warming, and high in acidity, medium-bodied, with perfectly balanced structure and developing. On the palate it is layered and has perfumed, dried-fruit, mineral, citrus and bread flavours. The finish is long and vibrant. This wine is excellent. I paid around 50-100€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 15min before tasting. Good value for money. I do recommend.
