Written Notes

Firm, mouth-filling tannins, pure Sangiovese fruit, and a personality that bridges power with elegance, the ’00 Le Pergole Torte offers a sublime experience in this iconic Super Tuscan. Aromatics of cherries, berries, earth, spice, underbrush, cigar wrapper and spice burst from the glass; echoed on the seamless palate, this wine integrates its notes into a seamless whole that crescendo to a thrilling, lingering finish. Le Pergole Torte has its roots deep in Toscana, and its vinification protocol owes a little to international methods. Vinified first in cement, the wine first ages in cask and then in barriques before being transferred, unfiltered, into bottles for at least six months before release. It’s not too strong a statement to make that Le Pergole Torte sets the gold standard for elite Sangiovese.
