Wine Description
The Story
Coonawarra did not happen by chance, it was founded a century ago, based on sound scientific principles after the assessment of extensive feasibility studies. The Parker Estate Vineyard, situated at the Southern end of Coonawarra, was established in 1985 on the rich Terra Rossa over limestone soils. Parker Coonawarra have achieved an unmatched reputation both within Australia and overseas, wherever fine wines are revered for their integrity and consistently superb quality. Commercial constraints played no part in the development of Parker Coonawarra. Founder John Parker, after many years in the wine industry, was driven by a passion to produce superior red wines in Australia's premier red wine district.
Deep crimson red. Nose is very complex, with lifted notes of ripe red and black fruits, with some sous-bois and spice undertones. Mint and floral, its fragrance of cassis, violets, dark chocolate and cedar/vanilla oak precedes the exceptionally fine elegant and purely Cabernet flavours. The palate offers great density, with very intense blackberry flavours showing throughout, intermingling with healthy dark chocolate and sweet hazelnut tones. The tannins are very fine and powdery, already showing great integration at this early stage.
