When Ferdinand Vorwerk decided to plant a small Shiraz vineyard sometime in the late 1870s, site selection would have been as important as it is today. However in the early years of Australia’s viticultural history, the chosen site was about survival of the vineyard. The 2010 vintage was underpinned by the best winter / spring rainfall in five years, providing good soil moisture for the growing season.
