The Story

A 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc from a small lot in the northwestern section of the vineyard, planted in 2006. The grapes are harvested at full phenolic ripeness, but still with a high acidity (and there's no acidification taken place at Screaming Eagle since 2005). The juice is fermented in two small new French oak barrels, to a alcohol level of just above 14 percent.

Wine Information

The 2017 is a beautifully medium-bodied and vibrant release with exceptional balance of richness, texture and freshness. Redolent of pineapple, white peach, citrus peel, lemongrass and with hallmark honeysuckle scents, this would be a sublime pairing with sushi and sashimi.

Written Notes

In the glass, it gleams with a radiant, pale gold color, hinting at its purity and sophistication. The nose is a harmonious blend of white flowers and orchard fruits. Aromas of honeysuckle, fresh-cut grass, and ripe white peaches create an inviting bouquet. On the palate, this wine is a symphony of flavors. Crisp green apples, zesty Meyer lemon, and a touch of tropical pineapple dance on the taste buds. The vibrant acidity adds liveliness and structure to the wine. The finish is clean and refreshing, leaving a lingering impression of citrus zest and a subtle mineral undertone.

Suggested Food Pairing:
Pair this wine with fresh seafood, such as oysters on the half shell, grilled prawns with a citrus marinade, or a delicate crab salad. It also complements soft, creamy cheeses and light, summery dishes.
