The Story

In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, on the hills between Grosseto and Montiano and next to the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Belguardo Estate is one of the most important businesses in the region.

Purchased by the Mazzei family in the middle of the 90's, the property covers an overall area of 70 hectares, half of which is devoted to special viewyards.
A very special terroir, which is the result of many years of research, and on which an intense vineyard replanting program was started immediately after the purchase with a precise choice of the varietalsand clones.

Belguardo is proud to present Tirrenico 2017, a truly special wine whose sensory pleasures are evoked by the Tyrrhenian Sea.

With the appointment of Francesco Mazzei as President of the Maremma Wine Consortium, Marchesi Mazzei has further focused its attention on the family company’s Belguardo wine brand and its Maremma Toscana DOC controlled appellation wines.
Tirrenico Maremma Toscana DOC, formerly known as ‘Tirreno’, is Belguardo’s flagship wine.

Written Notes

Intense ruby colour with slightly violet hue. Aromatic nose reminiscent of blackcurrants, mulberries and sloe, balmy spices and fine however rather discreet toasting aroma. On the palate well balanced with ripe tannins, mild acidity, refreshing salinity, very well structured with convincing length.
