The Story

Henri Lurton believes that a great wine should combine structure with elegance and possess great aromatic purity. Château Brane Cantenac’s aromatic qualities have been acknowledged for a great many years. Its bouquet develops over time. The more the wine ages, the greater power it develops.  

Brane’s greatest asset is the amazing quality of its historic terroir, because at the end of the day wine is made in the vineyard. This is why Henri Lurton attaches such great importance to vine canopy work, very strict selection and moderate yields (an average yield of 45hl/ha). Contrary to what may have been written about the estate, Brane produces a very limited quantity of First Wine. Scarcely a third of the production carries the famous gold and black label!

Ruby. Scented, dark fruity, some spices and anise nose, detailed, floral notes. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, fruity, red berries, some anise and spices, detailed, long. 94-96

Deep colour. Intense liquorice, dark cherry, pure cassis aromas with violet, savoury oak complexity. Parma Violet, cassis dark cherry flavours, inky density, long refined tannins. A modicum of new oak pervades across the palate giving complexity, vigour and extra firmness. Attractive mineral length. Tasted at the Union des Grand Crus and at Ch Brane Cantenac. 93 points

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Very elegant nose with fine fruit, blackcurrants, sweet elderberries, blackberries and hints of ripe plums. In the background delicate spiciness and fine toasting aroma. On the palate well structured, elegant character, ripe tannins, sweet fruit and very convincing length. The concentration of elegance. 95
