The Story

Hervé Deschamps became the 7th Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master in 1993. The ten previous years he spent at his predecessor's side helped him master the subtleties of the House style and its unique floral tonality. As a guardian of this knowledge, he has since perpetuated and cultivated this precious heritage, fashioning, sculpting and pruning each of the vines that comprise his creations during their composition, with craftsmanlike skill.

Working at the vat, plot by plot, the Cellar Master tastes and tests time and again, finally isolating the wines, turning each cuvée into a unique wine that expresses all the characteristic elegance and finesse of the House of Perrier-Jouët. "I throw myself into each composition with one combined effort, like the creative flow of an artist, at that moment when intuition, sensitivity and skill somehow inexplicably come together." Hervé Deschamps.

In 1902, Emile Gallé designed a delicate spray of anemones to be engraved on the prestigious cuvées of Perrier-Jouët Champagnes. The House has remained loyal to this artistic heritage ever since.

The same tradition gave rise to Beauting: a vision of gastronomy which embraces Beauty and Good Food, turning each dish into a work of art, in perfect harmony with each cuvée. A unique sensory experience and a feast for the eye and the palate alike.

When served between 10°C and 12°C, cuvée Belle Epoque 2006 is the perfect aperitif.

During a meal, its freshness and floral scents blend beautifully with the salty flavours of shellfish and fish or light white meat dishes.

The best champagne from this fabulous vintage released so far. A Classic Belle Epoque but at the same time even more elegant than usual with a lovely serious flowery bouquet of orange blossom, magnolia and lilies of the valley as key notes in the most perfect of perfumes. The taste is somewhat more acidic than usual where Chardonnay from Avize and Cramant shines bright and clear for the moment with a discreet creamy and yet chalky and powdery emotion that embraces the crispy freshness. Together with the legends of 1964, 1985 and perhaps 1996 the best Belle Epoque ever created. Buy every bottle you can get!

Good looking normal size bottle, in an perfect condition and has by the neck level. Colour is green-yellow, and looking bright and light. On the nose it is youthful, intense, complex and fresh. The taste is fresh, harmonious, elegant, and dry, and high in acidity, with complex structure and youthful. On the palate it is layered and has bread, citrus, creamy and mineral flavours. The finish is long, extensive and vibrant. This wine is sophisticated, sexy and outstanding. I paid around 200-500€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 5-10€ years. Good value for money. I do recommend.

Attractive bright yellow colour with signs of development. The nose is pure, fruity and focused: apple, dried fruits, toast and honey. The medium-bodied palate is structured and linear. Had the charm and richness of riper vintage. The wine is harmonious from the beginning until the long end. A great bottle of Champagne.
