The Millésime 2009 Premier Cru is a champagne worthy of haute cuisine, accompanying the finest sea bass or turbot dishes. It would make a fine companion to veal sweetbreads in a mushroom cream sauce, an aged Comté or even a decadent chocolate and praline dessert.
Wine Description
The Story
The Brut Millésime is only made in truly exceptional years. Made from a pinot-heavy blend in our nine favourite villages (mostly Ludes, Chigny-les-Roses and Rilly-la-Montagne), the Brut Millésime is a very dry champagne which requires long ageing in the cellar to preserve and express its unique character. This champagne is a pure reflection of complexity and harmony.
Wine Information
Eyes : the deep golden yellow of this vintage champagne is the perfect counterpoint to its fine, elegant bubbles.
Nose : delicate yet generous on the nose, aromas of walnut and toasted almond dominate before yielding to more delicate mirabelle notes.
Palate : the elegant unctuousness on the palate reveals gorgeously fruity aromas of black cherry and plum, giving way to lingering toasted notes of hazelnut and honey.
Vintage 2009
Warmest conditions since 2003, optimal maturity, healthy fruit. Balanced wines with average sugars, lower acidities. High overall maturity. Vintage year for some, principally récoltants-manipulants (individual growers). In ’09, new EU rules reduced dosage for Brut to 12 g/l.
