The Story

Each year, Château Beauséjour hDL takes into consideration the quality of the harvest and adapts its vinification accordingly. A subtle balance between the frequency and intensity of the "pumping-over" process must respect the wine's maceration, which varies in duration, in order to extract the best tannins.

For over thirty years, the Michel Rolland Laboratory has accompanied Château Beauséjour hDL during the vinification of each vintage. T...

BORDEAUX 2019 VINTAGE

When I was visiting Bordeaux early March, Corona was a threat on the horizon and France has been more concerned by a strike of the air traffic control. However, I was travelling to Bordeaux and had the chance to get some first insights to the 2019 vintage. Written Notes

2019 Beausejour Duffau Lagarrosse 97-98p
Tasted in November 2021. I wrote in June 2020 while tasting a barrel sample of 2019 BDL. "It's a beautiful effort!  Remarkable intensity of black cherries, dark chocolate and cocoa powder, fleshy on the palate with high complexity and sophisticated touch, luxurious and lingering finish. This wine oozes sheer class! 97-98p". From the bottle, it is identically impressive and got some elegance.

  • 98p

Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Powerful yet elegant nose with multi-layered fruit, dark berries, cherries and hints of sloe, fine toasting, well integrated oak and elegant mild spices in the background. On the palate opulence in combination with freshness and elegance, quoting the fruit of the nose, with lingering mild spics in the finish. An excellent wine with depth and length.
