The Story

Each year, Château Beauséjour hDL takes into consideration the quality of the harvest and adapts its vinification accordingly. A subtle balance between the frequency and intensity of the "pumping-over" process must respect the wine's maceration, which varies in duration, in order to extract the best tannins.

Vintage 2020

In Bordeaux, the heat led to early flowering. Additionally, this led to an early harvest after a very hot summer. As a starting point, there is great maturity in the grapes, and we can expect a more opulent vintage than in recent years.

Written Notes

79% Merlot + 21% C.Franc. Similar in many ways to 2022. More powerful, though. Creamy berries and silky tannin. Multilayered, sophisticated, and seamless.  Fabulous structure and mid-palate and a superb finish. Fantastic effort. 98+p.

2020  Château Beausejour (Duffau Lagarrosse) St. Émilion Grand Cru Inky in color with purple accents, the wine pops from the glass with notes of crushed rocks, flowers, licorice, espresso, plums, cherries, black raspberries and oceanic nuances. Fresh, full-bodied, concentrated and intense, the layers of plush, pure fruits are made even better by its salty tannins and seamless finish that doesn't know when to quit. There is an incredible sense of purity in the fruits that comes through loud and clear in the more than 50 second finish. 97-99  Pts

Ruby. Blackberries and anise, spices, fruit driven, floral with a bit of air, violets, nuanced, minerals, touch of graphite, floral and precise nose. Truffles and coffee beans. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark fruits, detailed, juicy, layered, elegant and nuanced yet powerful, spices, almost saline mineraly below, fascinating on many levels. Long. 97-99

Dark purple colour with violet hue. Expressive nose with aroma reminiscent of ripe plums and black cherries, blackberries, blueberries and mild spices. Elegant toasting aroma in the background. On the palate well structured with firm yet ripe tannins, ripe fruit flavour and elegant spices. Excellent length.
