The Story

Since 1983, Denis Durantou has been at the helm of this historic estate. He has quietly performed something of a revolution, introducing a host of innovations and bringing his wine-making philosophy to one of the greatest terroirs in Bordeaux. The 4.5 hectares used for the grand vin are situated next to the church in Pomerol on gravel and clay soils. A further 1.5 hectares of on sandy soils account for the excellent Petite Eglise.

Vintage 2015

Full report of Bordeaux 2015 by Andrew Caillard MW “Next in line in a great series of vintages; 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

Written Notes

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Opulent nose with complex character, blackberries, plums and black cherries, vanilla, cloves and hints of gingerbread spices. On the palate well structured with firm but ripe tannins, opulent but still fresh, distinct minerality and great length, a wine with a promising future

L’Eglise Clinet - 90% Merlot 10% Cabernet Franc - 70% New Oak Great colour, the nose is bigger than the Petite as you would expect, very pure focused fruit coming through, hints of rose petal and violet, deep dark and exciting, black cherry coming through too, this is a big boy, dense and full, fresh with chalky tannins, textured, serious, savoury and toasty layers unfolding on the finish, for the long haul. 95-97/100, 2028-2050

Ruby. Scented, some coffee, violets, dark fruits, exotic, intense, layered and nuanced nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, juicy, dark berries, some red fruits, minerals, detailed, long. 94-96
