The Story

The wine of Cheval des Andes combines the vibrant and intense expression of Argentinian Malbec with the rigour, elegance and savoir-faire of a great Bordeaux.

Written Notes

A hot vintage. Ripe and sweet with a smooth palate and soft-textured lush black fruits. A very ripe style with a soft, rich personality. – Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com 92p

This vintage will always have a special place in the history of Cheval des Andes as the only one to have Merlot as its third variety. This choice was made because 2006 was a particularly fresh vintage.

The year 2006 in Mendoza was characterized by a cool spring and the absence of late frosts. From January to the end of the harvest, temperatures rose consistently and there was little rainfall, resulting in a healthy harvest with vivid and intense colours.

Intense ruby red colour with garnet hints conveying vivacity. The nose unveils a dance between raspberry and redcurrant, with additional notes of oregano, tomato leaf, tobacco and olives. In the mouth, this wine is smooth, fresh and unctuous with a delicate and refined finish.
