The Story

The wine of Cheval des Andes combines the vibrant and intense expression of Argentinian Malbec with the rigour, elegance and savoir-faire of a great Bordeaux.

Written Notes

A fairly tough year with a small harvest. Sleek red and black fruits: cherries, plums, spice and some blackcurrant notes. Ripe and pure with great definition, nicely integrated oak and lovely fruit presence. – Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com 94p

  • 94p

The year 2008 was one of the coolest years for Cheval des Andes and resulted in wines with great freshness and vivacity. It snowed five times during the long, cold winter, which increased water in the vineyard soil resulting in a good, even, but late bud break. These atypical climate conditions gave the wine its vivacity and freshness and favourable conditions in springtime with a dry and warm start to the summer contributed to grape health and larger bunches.

Bright violet colour with great complexity. Predominance of yellow fruit with cedar notes laced with spicy aromas of rosemary. This wine is fresh with outstanding balance and a finish on fruity notes.
