The Story

The wine of Cheval des Andes combines the vibrant and intense expression of Argentinian Malbec with the rigour, elegance and savoir-faire of a great Bordeaux.

Written Notes

The year 2009 was warm and memorable for its red wines. A pleasant winter and a dry, cool spring allowed for a good and early bud break. Summer began with high temperatures and low humidity, which fortunately did not affect the fruit quality. The warm and dry conditions continued through the autumn. Malbec 2009 exhibits great character, good ripeness, intense colour and concentration.

Intense red colour with purplish tinges. Elegant and complex. Eccentric peat, bay leaf, liquorice and cinnamon notes appear and harmonize with ripe fruits like fig, raspberry and plum. This wine is reminiscent of fine French pastries, combined with caramelized berries. Subtle tobacco notes add to its complexity. Revealing a nice texture, this wine is unctuous on the mouth. It is a powerful and mature vintage that retains its freshness and delivers a long, delicate finish.
