Wine Information

The year is 1927 and 18-year-old Etienne Guigal lifts the iron knocker on the door of the Rhône’s most well-known winemaker, Vidal-Fluery. Being a cellar assistant in Joseph Vidal-Fleury’s prestigious company would be the perfect launchpad for the future.

Written Notes

This southern Rhone gem was “Wine of the Year” for the Wine Spectator upon release in 2002. Composed of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and some supporting cast regional grapes, the wine has been complex and flavorful from the start. The years of cellar age rounded the flavors and texture into a rich, well knit beauty. Cherries and herbs in the nose. Silky and supple texture with good acidity providing nice balance and length. Ripe cherry flavors in the core with sweet herbs, earth and leather elements creating a wonderfully complex profile. Patience was well rewarded here.
