The Story

A perfect illustration of Maison Henriot’s mastery of the assemblage, this cuvee is composed in equal parts of pinot noir and chardonnay, conferring elegance on its complex structure. Produced with respect for family tradition, this cuvee - which comes exclusively from Champagne’s Grands Crus - is made only in exceptional years.

Wine Information

The name “Enchanteleur” borne by this rare wine refers to the cellar workers in the days when vinification was carried out only in barrels. Their work consisted in particular of piling up the casks on wooden beams. It was said that they “put the casks on chantiers (gantries)”, that they “enchantelaient”... Henriot Cuvée Enchanteleurs 1996 Magnum deg. 2011 Intense, vibrant, youthful but open nose with ripe fruit, yellow apples, white peach, citrus, lemon, lemon oil, white flowers and minerals. Turns a bit more toasty with air but it stays in the background of the mineral tinged fruit. Full bodied and racy with a fruity attack, filled with white peach, yellow and green apples, grape fruit, nuts and minerals that continues seamless over to the very long and grippy finish. This is a very powerful and concentrated baby that need plenty, plenty of time. A classic and fantastic Enchanteleurs! Drink 2022-2046 94p
