The Story

Seña is an authentic Chilean blend made from the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties. The Carmenere variety adds an evident Chilean personality to the wine.

To maximize quality, the fruit is handpicked exclusively in the morning and brought to the winery in 12 kg boxes. The grapes are then carefully selected on sorting tables and all extraneous plant material, leaves, and stems are removed...

Written Notes

“Reflecting the outstanding 1995 vintage, Seña has lush fruit flavours of ripe cassis, black cherries and plums, with complex nuances of spearmint oil, cocoa and warm, spicy oak. The tannins have a velvety softness, yet give the wine structure for extended cellaring. Lamb chops, rubbed with a basil and mint pesto and grilled over grape canes, are an exquisite accompaniment to this wine. New red potatoes, lightly coated with thyme and olive oil, and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus can be added to the grill to complete the melange of flavours.”

A warm spring and moderate summer temperatures contributed to the early ripening. Simultaneously, the low humidity, absence of rainfall and cool afternoon breezes throughout the growing season led to a healthy harvest that began a week earlier than usual. The 1994 – 1995 season produced riper and more concentrated fruit than previous years. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere grapes from this vintage were exceptionally outstanding, with very ripe flavours and a deep spiciness that ultimately resulted in rich and expressive wines.
