The Heir’ Syrah McLaren Vale 2019

‘The Heir’ Syrah McLaren Vale 2019 ($80) – Another fine year, the wine has an inky dark maroon hue. The nose is redolent of black jellybeans, a fruit-loop note (which I love), blackberries, aniseed, cold tea, tobacco leaves, chocolate and cocoa powder. Fresh, with focus, and fine oak integration, there is plenty of grip evident here. Everything is coming together admirably. If the wine can be given another four to five years before opening, and then drunk over the following ten to fifteen, it will show to advantage. Very attractive, but it has more to reveal and the score should climb accordingly. 94.
