The Story

In order to bring you these incredible wines, we have reserved a limited number of our cuvées from the most outstanding vintages in our oenothèque for over 50 years. These works of art are available in magnum for a tasting experience unlike any other. In the twenty years since this historic year transported us from one millennium to the next, time has revealed a fi ne wine that has blossomed into something truly unique.

Blend: 65% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir, 10% Meunier
Cellar ageing: 20 years
Dosage: 5 g/l
Formats: 150 cl

PRODUCTION
A blend of meticulously selected Premiers and Grands Crus. The shimmering eff ervescence of the Chardonnay is enhanced by the roundness and elegant, aromatic richness of the Pinots. A delicate dosage contributes to the balanced expression of the champagne’s maturity.

TASTINGNOTES
The aromatic harmony of this cuvée reveals a world of delicate spice and mint, where toasted and mild tobacco nuances mingle with a fl oral bouquet. The generosity of these fl avours is entwined with a surprising freshness and a youthful of citrus fruits on the fi nish.

FOOD PAIRING
With sautéed calf sweetbreads and pan-fried girolle mushrooms, or with game marinated in champagne and black truffles.

Vintage 1983

Champagne: The 1983 vintage was one of the decade’s most mature vintages and is at its best today.

This vintage was not born without pain, either. If the 1982 winter was cold and the spring cool, then this year it was many more times so. The damp and flowering. When it finally took place, the weather conditions were excellent. The summer was warm and sunny. As in the previous year, fall rains saved the grapes from drying up. Along with the rains of early September, temperatures fell and the maturing slowed down. The weather improved toward the end of September, and the harvest was reaped in early October. The vintage grew to be even bigger than the 1982 one. The wines have matured noticeably faster than the 1982 vintage. Stylistically, the wines are robust, lush and at a really enjoyable age right now.
