Shiraz Viognier 2022 ($45) – This is one of the more impressive wines from the Granite Belt in recent vintages. Local Shiraz with a pleasing dollop of Viognier, which blends seamlessly.
The wine is a deep maroon hue. There are notes of florals, mulberries, dried herbs, cloves, black fruits, a hint of blueberries, soy and aniseed. Well structured, with a supple, seductive texture and good focus. This is bright and alive, balanced and long. There are silky, though abundant tannins here and great persistence. So much to like and room to improve even further. Six to ten years. 93.
