Produced entirely from Craggy Range’s Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, nestled on the right bank of the Ngaruroro River, Sophia is a blend of the very best Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Malbec parcels of the vineyard. The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed before fermenting in closed-top oak vessels. The wine then matures in French barriques.

Good looking normal size bottle and in an perfect condition. Colour is cherry red, and looking clear and deep. On the nose it is mature and opulent. The taste is fragrant,full of energy, and dry, warming, with high tannin, with sweet tannins, and high in acidity and full-bodied. On the palate it is layered and has balsamic, chocolate, meaty, toasty and mint flavours. The finish is long. This wine is nice but not special. I paid around 50-100€ a bottle. Too expensive for quality. I do not recommend it.
