The Story

Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne established in Ay in 1584 and is owned by the Cointreau family. The Cointreaus also own Gosset’s sister company, Cognac Frapin, and Jean Pierre is currently C.E.O of both companies. They bought Gosset in 1993 when Albert Gosset of the original Gosset family died. Vintage 2012

The next most exceptional vintage since 2008. A truly difficult growing season saw severe frosts in the winter. March brought warmth but early budbreak made the vines vulnerable to spring frosts. Written Notes

he flagship prestige cuvée from Champagne's oldest wine house (a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir with an ultra-low Extra Brut dosage), this 2012 release showcases Gosset's signature avoidance of malolactic fermentation paired with a decade of lees aging.

The nose is majestic, intense, and deeply layered, opening with candied lemon peel, yellow plum, and fresh ginger, followed by intricate autolytic aromas of roasted hazelnut, warm frangipane, dried white flowers, and a striking chalk-dust minerality. On the palate, the wine possesses extraordinary power and weight, yet enters with razor-sharp precision. The concentrated mid-palate of citrus oil and ripe stone fruit is driven by a searing, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity that cuts like a diamond. It concludes with an exceptionally long, chiseled, and bone-dry saline finish that echoes with persistent citrus pith and wet limestone for minutes.
